1 Please explain your philosophy of managing the postpartum period.
2 Is she certified or what training has she had?
3 What is her scope of practice? (that is, the limits to her practice, what she does and does not do to assist you)
4 What is her experience? How long has she been a postpartum doula?
5 Can she provide you with references?
6 What are her fees?
7 Does she work with a partner, student or backup? Can you request or reject that she work with another doula?
8 What is her availability?
9 Is she available for questions in between visits?
10 How and when can you contact her?
11 Is she available prenatally?
12 Will she help you create a postpartum plan?
13 How will she work with your partner?
14 How will she work with your older children?
15 Will she attend care giver appointments with you?
16 Tell her any major physical, emotional or psychological concerns you have and ask how she will address those. Let her know if you have a history of depression.
