Before Baby
Get your home organized and in order before the birth of your baby. You will find those early days more pleasant if you are focused on your baby instead of your home.

Start thinking about childproofing your home now. You may be too busy later, and wouldn’t you rather spend the time holding your baby?

When preparing meals, make it a double and freeze half for an easy microwave heat-up or thaw and bake meal after the baby arrives.

Write a birth plan. You can find samples and examples online to use as a guide to write your own customized birth plan. Keep a piece of paper and pen out on the counter so you and your partner can jot down thoughts and ideas as they come up. Schedule time to talk about these ideas and compile them into a birth plan.

After the Birth
Have a breastfeeding station set up. This is a comfortable place to relax and nurse your baby. You will want to have a table in easy reach with all of the supplies you need. Have a beverage with you while you nurse, you will get thirsty. Either plan to not answer the phone during this time, or have a phone nearby. Consider having a couple of stations set up for variety of location.

Consider purchasing a baby sling. Wearing your baby will allow you to comfort your baby and keep him/her close to you will tending to your other children or chores as necessary.

Accept help from those that offer. It is better for you, your baby, your family and your relationship to get help. Supermom is OUT!
